Welcome back to my Insta Edit series. In case you can't tell from this post, I got a new pair of Vans a few months ago and I've been trying the break them in ever since. A harder job than you'd think and one that's involved more cushioned plasters than I'd ever imagined. I love them but I also feel like Monica in the episode where she gets the boots. The quote "The person who made these hates feet and wants to see them die" has never been more appropriate! At least they look good.

Back in September I started dipping my toe into the merky waters of Instagram style content. Complete transparity, I know bugger all about what and what isn't 'in'. I tried a while back to keep up but in the end I just didn't feel like myself, had a massive fuck it moment and went back to my usual (so faded  I really need to replace them) black skinny jeans and some kind of variation of band/slogan top or Topshop blouse. Can you believe September is already here? I swear it was only June last week, the times just flown by. Mum and I have had a pretty calm day, considering it’s all back to work and everything tomorrow. It’s certainly helped the weathers been onside for once, I couldn’t stand that intense heatwave any longer and it’s not too cold to have to bundle up in ten layers of jumpers just yet. A happy medium I think it’s called.



Being the complete blogging fraud that I am, I still haven’t taken the leap and invested in a decent tripod or a self-timer to take outfit photos, so as usual I persuaded Mum to take a few shots for me whilst we both wrestled with the dog who wanted to sniff every single plant known to man. A jazzy outfit post this didn't turn out to be! Surprisingly, Jasper actually sat for a whole twenty seconds for me to get a photo with him. I know, I’m in shock! However, being the amateurs that we both are, we somehow ended up with a bag for life creeping in on a few of the pictures. Gotta love that glamorous blogger’s life and represent last week’s Iceland food shop. Multitasking goals.


 Although I’m still getting used to blogging again, I’m glad I decided to come back. I actually had forgotten how much I’d missed it once the writer’s block starts to crumble. In fact (not wanting to jinx this) I’ve got a long list of ideas for upcoming posts I can’t wait to start working on.

the dog hijacked my outfit post.

Can you believe September is already here? I swear it was only June last week, the times just flown by. Confession time. This is more of a outfit of the last fortnight, rather than just the day. You can tell it was awhile ago now just by the length of my hair! The 'Bloody hell, what on earth was I thinking?' Let me know what you think in the comments below. Help a girl out from making another potential fashion no-no. However, these trousers are the most softest things that I've ever found. It feels as if I'm still wearing my pajyama bottoms.I just hope that it doesn't look like I actually am.

I'm glad I had it chopped but I do miss my Rapunzel hair. It was like having a built in scarf. Back to the actual post, what can I tell you apart from that I've fallen a bit behind on the somewhat passable schedule I had going on. So,  better late than never I guess. Now, I'm not 100 percent sure if this actually works as an outfit or not.  This could either be chalked up into the 'odd but it works' category or the one that my fashion experiments usually end up in. So it seems as if I've fallen into a state of the never-ending outfit of the day posts... Which when you're surrounded by floor to ceiling mirrors in a dance studio or classroom, that have rather decent lighting too might I just add, it was kinda inevitable. In truth, this post was supposed to go up a good week ago, but life just flew by and before I knew it, it was Tuesday again. On another note, I had planned a few posts dedicate to my show which I've been in rehearsals for since practically the third week of September when I originally went back to Uni. But as always, life is never simple... Or kind for that matter and now I'm curled up in bed with a crappy asthma infection which in turn is buggering up my already not too fabulous lungs. It's a long and frankly disgusting story so I won't traumatize you with the gory details. To give you the short version: a poorly Jade has meant that I've had to pull out at the final hurdle... On show week of all things! So to say I'm utterly gutted about that is the understatement of the century. Anyway, back to the outfit now that I've shared my sob story. Once again, I decided to release my inner lazy bones to the world... well... my Uni class at least, and grabbed one of the snuggest jumpers I've ever brought from Primark. I paired it with my ever faithful high-waisted Topshop jeans and a pair of white Converses. And my glasses as I'd rather not be as blind as a bat whilst walking around a stage and end up bumping into the set. That wouldn't have been my cleverest moment.

It's now sadly coming to the end of its well-loved life, with far too many frays and growing holes that have made it almost unwearable - hence I had to make another pilgrimage to my mothership go-to shop for anything tiny sized: the petite section in Topshop. firstly, thank you from the bottom of my little heart for making this beautiful coat available in a size four! You've stopped my bones from freezing in this winter weather. It also thankfully doesn't let the cold in with the tastefully hidden zip and buttons. Perfect on the cold and frosty morning's I have to travel to Uni or work. I also really love the shape of it too as it's just the right length. The only downside is that the pockets are fake, a slight bugbear of mine, but something I'll just have to look past in my quest for toasty, warm bones. I wore this with a simple plain black t-shirt and a  pair of incredibly soft checked print skinny trousers, again both from Topshop. In a nutshell, this is just my 'head-to-toe in Topshop look'.

It's been seven long years since I last splurged out and invested in a truly cosy and warm winter coat. Fondly dubbed my 'Paddington Bear' coat because, in short, it looks as if I've pinched it from the wardrobe of the beloved cartoon bear thanks to it being the exact same colours. Another uni day, another blue themed outfit. How unoriginal but that's just how I go. It's not even the fact that I don't find the subject matter dull, because I do find it fascinating, it's just that I've never been a very studious person. What I wouldn't give to have a Hermione Granger like outlook on the whole 'must do work' thing.

Another uni day, another blue themed outfit. How unoriginal but that's just how I go. So, instead of cracking on with my presentation on feminist theatre, I've decided that it's much more sensible to write up a new blog post or two... It's not like I still have two more slides to do and write up queue cards or anything. I swear I'm the queen of procrastination - and if not then I should be. Instead of actually doing my uni work, that's due in tomorrow might I add, I've spent the morning watching Shadowhunters on Netflix, reorganizing my bookcase (there's still not enough room!), and spent a good solid hour or so singing along to show tunes. Like I said, anything to put off the inevitable. It's not even the fact that I don't find the subject matter dull, because I do find it fascinating, it's just that I've never been a very studious person. Does that even still technically count as blogging anymore? So, what better than to kick it all off with a simple Outfit of the Day post. Borrowing a line from one of my favourite films; 'Greetings and Salutations, are you a Heather?' – now name that film! 

As the merry month of March rolls on into April, you'd expect that the weather would have improved somewhat. Just me? Maybe I was just fooling myself. In usual British fashion the start of Spring has brought with it buckets of endless rain, maybe I was being too optimistic when I decided to fork over my hard earned pennies on a new pair of JuJu jelly shoes yesterday. In case anyone's wondering they're black with flecks of silver glitter, maybe somewhat childish but I can still at least try to pull them off once the sun begins to shine. 

Despite the abysmal weather conditions yesterday I decided to brave the elements and venture out into the great big world, falling back on my ever trusty Topshop Leigh jeans; which must be the softest pair that I've ever owned, it's sort of like wearing leggings instead of jeans – to provide shelter for my legs from the cold. I had considered tights but I didn't fancy having to deal with pulling them back up from halfway around my ankles every half hour. To go with it I threw on my favourite shirt, a fitted black three-quarter length sleeved shirt with a small white double diamond print, which is again from Topshop. 

Like I said, as the weather is still so terrible and the air is bitterly cold I quickly put on the first jumper that I pulled out of my wardrobe which happened to be this thick knitted one with a fair-isle owl motive. I found it one day in a charity shop and despite the label claiming that it's supposedly a size fourteen, it fits perfectly! I didn't even have to try and shrink it in the wash! Finally, before I scampered out of the front door like a gazelle, I whipped my thick padded gilet off of the coat rack. As we weren't planning on actually being outside for long I didn't want to have to lug my usual heavy woollen Paddington bear coat around with me all day so I opted for this instead. I snapped it up from Jack Wills two years ago after lusting after it for years on end and despite my reservations about the price tag, I have never regretted it. It's super cosy and has lasted for ages and it still looks (semi) brand new. It's also an added bonus that this possesses one of the only hoods that actually stay up on my head! Ten points to Gryffindor for that!

Borrowing a line from one of my favourite films; 'Greetings and Salutations, are you a Heather?' – now name that film! 

As the merry month of March rolls on into April, you'd expect that the weather would have improved somewhat. Just me? Maybe I was just fooling myself. In usual British fashion the start of Spring has brought with it buckets of endless rain, maybe I was being too optimistic when I decided to fork over my hard earned pennies on a new pair of JuJu jelly shoes yesterday. In case anyone's wondering they're black with flecks of silver glitter, maybe somewhat childish but I can still at least try to pull them off once the sun begins to shine. 

Despite the abysmal weather conditions yesterday I decided to brave the elements and venture out into the great big world, falling back on my ever trusty Topshop Leigh jeans; which must be the softest pair that I've ever owned, it's sort of like wearing leggings instead of jeans – to provide shelter for my legs from the cold. I had considered tights but I didn't fancy having to deal with pulling them back up from halfway around my ankles every half hour. To go with it I threw on my favourite shirt, a fitted black three-quarter length sleeved shirt with a small white double diamond print, which is again from Topshop. 

Like I said, as the weather is still so terrible and the air is bitterly cold I quickly put on the first jumper that I pulled out of my wardrobe which happened to be this thick knitted one with a fair-isle owl motive. I found it one day in a charity shop and despite the label claiming that it's supposedly a size fourteen, it fits perfectly! I didn't even have to try and shrink it in the wash! Finally, before I scampered out of the front door like a gazelle, I whipped my thick padded gilet off of the coat rack. As we weren't planning on actually being outside for long I didn't want to have to lug my usual heavy woollen Paddington bear coat around with me all day so I opted for this instead. I snapped it up from Jack Wills two years ago after lusting after it for years on end and despite my reservations about the price tag, I have never regretted it. It's super cosy and has lasted for ages and it still looks (semi) brand new. It's also an added bonus that this possesses one of the only hoods that actually stay up on my head! Ten points to Gryffindor for that!

rainy day casual.

Happy Halloween! In case you weren't aware Halloween is my favourite time of the year. All the ghosts and ghouls and as many sweets as you can eat - what's not to love? Now I'm not planning on going out this year as my little cousin is still a bit young for trick or treating (maybe next year) but I decided to be a rebel and dress up anyway. If you haven't already guessed by the picture I'm supposed to be the one and only Wednesday Addams. When o was growing up I was a tad obsessed with wanting to be her (actually I think I still am) and I had this tiny grey patterned Wednesday dress that my Grandad got me which I wore until I was about ten when it just fell apart. It was around the beginning of the year that stumbled across this amazing dress, appropriately named 'The Wednesday' whilst having a browse through ASOS. I just couldn't stop myself from lusting after it so in the end, my mum brought it for me for my birthday. The only slight downside is that I struggle a bit trying to wear it day to day as it doesn't tend to go with everything but for occasions such as Halloween it's perfect!

Now I'm not planning on going out this year as my little cousin is still a bit young for trick or treating (maybe next year) but I decided to be a rebel and dress up anyway. If you haven't already guessed by the picture I'm supposed to be the one and only Wednesday Addams. When o was growing up I was a tad obsessed with wanting to be her (actually I think I still am) and I had this tiny grey patterned Wednesday dress that my Grandad got me which I wore until I was about ten when it just fell apart. It was around the beginning of the year that stumbled across this amazing dress, appropriately named 'The Wednesday' whilst having a browse through ASOS. I just couldn't stop myself from lusting after it so in the end, my mum brought it for me for my birthday. The only slight downside is that I struggle a bit trying to wear it day to day as it doesn't tend to go with everything but for occasions such as Halloween it's perfect!
